Credentials
Mrs. Kelley is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. The CCPDT offers the ONLY international, standardized certification for animal training and behavior professionals that is both psychometrically sound and independent of any course of study.
She is also a Certified Fear-Free Professional AKC Canine Good Citizen, STAR Puppy and Trick Dog Evaluator and a Certified Family Dog Mediator.
Memberships: The Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants , The Pet Professionals Guild, and the Behavior Education Network.
Experience
Mrs. Kelley is currently a breeder and exhibitor of Border Terriers under the prefix "Cricket Hill" and Bullmastiffs under the prefix "Big Rig." She previously bred and showed English Labrador Retrievers for over 30 years under the prefix "Lorien."
She has put multiple conformation Championships, Grand Championships, performance and obedience titles on her dogs and is an AKC Breeder of Merit in Border Terriers.
She is the founder and a past president of the Northern Neck Kennel Club and is also a member of the Border Terrier Club of America, the Rivana River Earth Dog Club, the American Bullmastiff Association, and the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac.
She has been proudly serving Northern Neck residents and their dogs since 1977.
Education
Mrs. Kelley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She is a graduate of Dr. Susan Friedman's Living and Learning with Animals (LLA), a groundbreaking educational program of incorporating Applied Behavioral Analysis in working with animals and Michael Shikashio's Masterclass in Aggression.
She has also attended seminars and workshops offered by many of the world's most accomplished and best-know trainers, behaviorists and academicians including Ken Ramirez, Chirag Patel, Sue Sternberg, Kathy Sdao, Temple Grandin, and more.
